We committed a portion of a friend’s ashes to the sea this weekend. it was a great weekend with special friends. Redge Swing did the eulogy and did a good job.

I have never even considered cremation but all in all it is a fairly efficient means of returning this body to its original dust. The words in our liturgy, Episcopal, “ashes to ashes and dust to dust” now have more meaning to me. Losing Jerry, especially as closely behind his wife Butchie, has made all of us a lot more cognizant of the temporal nature of this life. Thanks goodness I have the assurance of God’s grace and Jesus’ promise.
